About Us

The Cumberland Dairy was formed by four dairy farmers in picturesque Appleby, Cumbria. Proud of their produce and the farms they have established, the group share an ambition to close the gap between producers and consumers.

Kevin, Chris and Gary revitalised traditional recipes and techniques to enhance the superior qualities of local milk. For 18 months they painstakingly developed a small range of cheeses until they were certain they had something special to offer their customers.

Our prize winning cheeses are produced in a traditional farmhouse creamery to the Cumberland Dairy’s recipes and specifications. Then they are matured for up to 12 months in our store near Appleby.
